Pop Haydn Seeks Collusion

If I am elected President, I will end the fierce partisan conflicts between the two parties, which are basically just foolish, childish squabbles about money and power when there is plenty of both to go around.

I say it is time for the two major parties to quit bickering and get down to business. I believe that it isn’t non-partisanship that we need, but collusion.

The Greater American Confidence Party is not meant to replace the other two parties, but to bring them together.

We should be seen as enablers. If we can help them divide the spoils equally, and all the politicians get their fair share, then maybe they can get some of the people’s work done in their spare time.

But at least, we can reduce some of the noise and fuss that has become so annoying to the American people at home.
I don’t think any of us really want to annoy the punters to the point of action…

“next to of course god america i love you…

I can’t seem to find my patriotic speech for this occasion, so I will crib this fine speech:

“next to of course god america i love you

land of the pilgrims’ and so forth

oh say can you see by the dawn’s early

my country ’tis of centuries come and go

and are no more what of it we should worry

in every language even deafanddumb

thy sons acclaim your glorious name

by gorry by jingo by gee by gosh by gum

why talk of beauty what could be more beautiful

than these heroic happy dead who rushed like lions

to the roaring slaughter they did not stop to think

they died instead then shall the voice of liberty be mute?”

He spoke. And drank rapidly a glass of water

— e e cummings

Happy Fourth of July, everybody!

With the campaign season fast approaching, I am doing my best to keep abreast of current affairs, trying to keep a finger on the pulse so to speak…
Events are moving fast with the Greater American Confidence Party, and it looks very likely that I, Pop Haydn, will be the presidential candidate for the Old Weasels.
I will be gathering information and keeping my eye on things as Magill and I travel around preparing for the campaign, meeting people, shaking hands, kissing babies and making promises–lots of promises.
We may be taking a trip to the Mediteranean next to see how things are going there…

Happy Birthday, Champ!

The Champ

Mohammed Ali turns 70 today. Happy Birthday, Champ!

Ali was one of the genuine heros of my generation. I was lucky to perform for him twice, and stole his watch both times. He has wrists like two by fours. He is the type of celebrity that makes me feel weak in the knees just being in his presence. I admire him so much.

“I’m expected to go overseas to help free people in South Vietnam and at the same time my people here are being brutalized; hell no! I would like to say to those of you who think I have lost so much: I have gained everything. I have peace of heart; I have a clear, free conscience. And I am proud. I wake up happy, I go to bed happy, and if I go to jail, I go to jail happy!”    –Muhammed Ali, 1967
