Sophie Evans at the Magic Castle
Video of Sophie Evans’ Fire Act
Sophie Evans will be performing all week in the Palace of Mystery beginning Monday, October 24th, and on until Halloween Night, October 31st.
She will be doing her very sexy fire magic act. She has some wonderful new bits in it, which she performed tonight at Erika Larsen’s Brookledge Follies.
Also on the Palace show are Bruce Block and Sylvester the Jester. It is a special Halloween Week at the Magic Castle and should be a whole lot of fun.
Lili VonSchtupp’s Monday Night Tease!
Lili VonSchtupp made her debut performance at the legendary Derby in Hollywood CA, on a starry Monday night in 2004 and never looked back.
Highlights of her career include competing at Miss Viva Las Vegas and performing at the legendary New York Burlesque Festival in ’06.
In 2007, Lili took the helm of LA’s longest running weekly burlesque show, and now produces the Monday Night Tease! at the 3 Clubs. You can still catch her performing around the California/Nevada area as well.
Her performance style has been described as a bit of Sophie Tucker, a bit of Mae West and whole lot of boobs, but the LA Times summed it up best: “She’s the foul-mouthed buxom godmother of LA Burlesque.”
Lili runs the prestigious burlesque academy, “Lili’s School for Wayward Girls,” a higher education facility helping ladies and gentlemen achieve their goals within the art of striptease.
About Monday Night Tease:
Monday Night Tease! has been the catalyst for debut burlesque in Los Angeles since 2004. With a cast containing burlesque, variety artists and music, MNT! offers a new show weekly, and is home of The Quentin Tarantino Burlesque Film Festival, The Hitchcock Tease, Lili’s Laugh In, I Love Mel Brooks, maydonna and the Muppet (of burlesque) Show, as well as Doc and Stumpy’s Instant burlesque, an baggy pants comedy burlesque production.
Lili will be performing as well as producing the Scoundrels and Trollops night at Monday Night Tease! this coming Monday night.
The crowd is mixed and friendly, and welcoming.
It is a good show for couples as well as single ladies and men.
The atmosphere is fun and upbeat, and a maybe just a little raunchy…magic, music, comedy and near-naked ladies–what could be better?
It’s Hollywood Night Life in the 21st Century, people!

Suzanne the Magician
My dear friend Suzanne the Magician is back in town. She did a performance in San Diego, last night, and is now here in Los Angeles to star in the early Close-Up Gallery beginning tonight through Sunday.
Suzanne is a wonderful performer, and an all-around splendid lady. She lives in Minneapolis with her husband Louis, and son Ian. She is a full-time magician, and a busy one at that. Her mentor is a great magician and magical creator, Al Schneider.
The members of Hollywood’s world-famous Magic Castle and the Academy of Magical Arts have honored Suzanne by choosing her as Close-Up Magician of the Year for 2010. The award ceremony was held on April 10, 2011 at the Avalon Theater in Hollywood. Suzanne is the first woman magician ever to be nominated for this award, and also the first to win it.
She has recently been on the cover of two international magic magazines.
Suzanne’s website is: suzmagic.com

Angie Cakes is one of Pop’s Tarts
This is Angie Cakes, folks, and isn’t she lovely?
Angie Cakes is a scrumptious confection of sugar & spice–with just a pinch of glitter–and she is going to take her clothes off for you at the Monday Night Tease’s show Scoundrels and Trollops at the 3 Clubs on Vine Street (just north of Santa Monica) in Hollywood, California.
Mark Monday, October 24th, 9:30 pm on your calendar, and go get a ticket.
Seating is limited, so get your tickets soon.
Please join me and Phil Van Tee and Angie Cakes and the rest of Pop’s Tarts for a fun, sexy, and entertaining show.
The Monday Night Tease is the longest running traditional burlesque show in Hollywood.
It is run by the fabulous and talented and very, very naughty Lili VonSchtupp.
The crowd is mixed and friendly, and welcoming. It is a good show for couples as well as single ladies and men. The atmosphere is fun and upbeat, and a maybe just a little raunchy. Magic, music, comedy and near-naked ladies–what could be better?

School for Scoundrels at the Magic Castle:
School for Scoundrels at the Magic Castle in Hollywood will begin on Sunday, November 6, and continue on Nov 13, 20, 27, and also on Mondays, November 7, 14, 21, 28. School for Scoundrels is a course taught at the Magic Castle every November since 1996.
Pop Haydn and Chef Anton (two-time national trick-shot champion at pool), teach the class together.
The course attracts lawyers and law-enforcement personnel, as well as magicians, students of gambling and history, and many who just find the subject fascinating–you don’t need to be a member of the Magic Castle to sign up for this course, and no previous knowledge or skills are required.
The course is $160 for the eight hours–two hours a night, once a week, for four weeks.
You can switch nights from Monday to Sunday or vice-versa–each week the same lesson is taught on both Sun and Mon at 7:00 pm.
This course teaches the basic sleight of hand, psychology, history and importance to magic of the three basic street swindles: Three-Card Monte, the Shell Game, and the various games of Fast and Loose.
We believe that the street hustler makes a better role-model for the modern close-up magician than the card cheat which has been the model since the turn of the century.
We believe that street hustlers have much to teach that is of huge benefit to magicians, especially those who work corporate walk around, trade-shows, or private parties where they need to gather a crowd, hold their attention, control their thinking, and get them to do what they want them to do.
Contact Magic University, and talk to Mark or Nani Wilson at (800) 367-8749 to sign up for the course. $160 for all four nights.
Magic Castle Tonight!

I look forward to working at the Magic Castle every time. I have been a member since 1975, and won my first performning award there in 1979 (Stage Magician of the Year).

Magic Castle tomorrow night:
I will be in the W. C. Fields Bar at the Magic Castle on Friday and Saturday this week (Oct 14-15), with continuous shows from 8:00 pm to 12:00 am. It is one of my favorite rooms in the Magic Castle. Doc Eason and I are the only performers to have won an award for this room. I like it because it is rowdy and people can feel comfortable getting loud and boisterous.
I will be working on some new things, including my new Benson Bowl Routine. There is video of my prior performances in the W. C. Fields Bar HERE.
Please come down if you can. message me if you want to come but need a pass.
