Pop Haydn and Friends

With the campaign season fast approaching, I am doing my best to keep abreast of current affairs, trying to keep a finger on the pulse so to speak…
Events are moving fast with the Greater American Confidence Party, and it looks very likely that I, Pop Haydn, will be the presidential candidate for the Old Weasels.
I will be gathering information and keeping my eye on things as Magill and I travel around preparing for the campaign, meeting people, shaking hands, kissing babies and making promises–lots of promises.
We may be taking a trip to the Mediteranean next to see how things are going there…

Remembering Cesar Chavez

I saw Chavez speak in 1969 in NYC with Peter Yarrow. I was very impressed by his quiet, unassuming manner, and the clarity of his message.

This Time cover is from 1969:

César Chávez Day is an official state holiday in the U.S. states of California, Colorado and Texas. The day is commemorated to promote service to the community in honor of César Chávez’s life and work. Many, but not all, state government offices, community colleges, and libraries are closed. Many public schools in the state are also closed. Texas also recognizes the day, and it is an optional holiday in Arizona and Colorado. Although it is not a federal holiday, the President proclaims March 31 as César Chávez Day in the United States, with Americans being urged to “observe this day with appropriate service, community, and educational programs to honor Cesar Chavez’s enduring legacy.”  –Wikipedia

Happy Birthday, Champ!

The Champ

Mohammed Ali turns 70 today. Happy Birthday, Champ!

Ali was one of the genuine heros of my generation. I was lucky to perform for him twice, and stole his watch both times. He has wrists like two by fours. He is the type of celebrity that makes me feel weak in the knees just being in his presence. I admire him so much.

“I’m expected to go overseas to help free people in South Vietnam and at the same time my people here are being brutalized; hell no! I would like to say to those of you who think I have lost so much: I have gained everything. I have peace of heart; I have a clear, free conscience. And I am proud. I wake up happy, I go to bed happy, and if I go to jail, I go to jail happy!”    –Muhammed Ali, 1967

The Weasel Wins!

Our New Mascot -- The Weasel

The election for the Greater American Confidence Party mascot has ended. The Weasel is the victor. From now on, we in the GACP will be represented by a weasel. Thanks for all of your participation. Finally, we can move forward as a party to victory!

Next we will have to choose a candidate for president of the United States.

I humbly put my name up for consideration.

The results of the month-long poll:
