These are the performing awards I have won from the Academy of Magical Arts (Magic Castle). The wands are all made from rosewood, ebony and silver by famous magic craftsman John Gaughan. The cases are made of cocobolo wood, except for the 1979 case which is made of walnut. They are engraved on the bottom with Johnny Gaughan’s signature. The crystal globe is from the year that Johnny didn’t make the wands, 2004. That was for “Close-Up Magician of the Year.”

All the awards I have won at the Castle up until now have been for the “Whit Haydn” character. This year’s award is the first for the “Pop Haydn” character, which I adopted in 2005.

The awards are these:

1979, Stage Magician of the Year

1995, Parlour Magician of the Year

2002, Parlour Magician of the Year

2003, Close Up Magician of the Year

2004, Close Up Magician of the Year

Thanks to Neil Patrick Harris for all he has done for the Magic Castle!

His term as President of the Academy of Magical Arts (The Magic Castle®) ends today at our general meeting as we welcome our new Board of Directors and officers.

Neil has been a tireless promoter of magic and the Magic Castle, and done a wonderful job helping the club to move into a new era of high profile success. He will soon be living full time in NYC, and we wish him all the best.

For Magill and me, thanks for all your efforts on behalf of the club!

You will be sorely missed as our president. I hope that your move to NYC will not mean that you will be visiting us less often.

Cheers!

Buy Pop Haydn’s Color-Changing Handkerchief Routine!

DSCF0430

I have just released my routine for the 24″ Color-Changing Handkerchief. This is my newest favorite trick! I have had so much fun with it over the last year, and now I am making it available to magicians around the world. It is based on the routine taught to me by Roger Klaus, which was based on Dai Vernon’s routine. The handling had to be changed to accommodate the large silks.

Everything needed for the routine is included, along with a DVD explaining the props, setup, performance, and sleight of hand, and with two live performances of the routine at the world-famous Magic Castle in Hollywood.

So, for the magicians in my audience, you can find all the details and a video performance HERE at PopsMagic.com

At Pop’s Magic, Shipping is FREE Worldwide.

Thanks!
